Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Crhmgs

Edit: 12/03/2021 this is today's chart of the day, I just want to thank you all for being so nice and reciprocating, there are a lot of artists that I must check out and a lot of things i must put in order before finishing this, to be honest with you, I don't know if i will ever get to finish it, not because I don't want to, but because I don't have too much time nowadays, but yeah, whenever I have the chance to, i will re-visit this chart, delete albums, add albums, etc.

Look, this chart is a mess, mostly because i can't bring myself to advance as much as i would like to. But my idea is to make a chart that it's as equally divided; filled with popular records and with records that i think deserve more attention, a 50/50, if you will... But I don't have that kind of knowledge yet, well, maybe that isn't it, i think it's mostly that i want to pick records that i'll be comfortable with, and as of today i would say im about 30% happy with this chart, and look, I don't want to sound like a total indie guy or like someone who hasn't an opinion on his own either, or maybe even both. i'll try to utilize every space in this chart to say how i feel about the record and why i love it so much and give a little bit of trivia in the process, sometimes i will get so inspired that i will even try to write some bloody awful poetry, even if i know i might not have the widest vocabulary to do it. I do think that the one artist per chart rule is fair, but i don't want to use it, because there are so many records/artists i think they deserve all my love, even if they already had more than enough of it, lol, but that will change in the future (IT DID, SEE "EDIT") it's not like Radiohead or The Strokes need more points on BEA than they already have, so I don't know, we'll see... I do appreciate all feedback and even appreciate that you are here looking at this mess, i will update here each descriptions i have done, if you want to check them out you are free to do so, cause i honestly don't have any idea of when i'm going to finish this, but yeah, that's it.

I might be a lazy af, but when i do get to write, i write a lot (most of the time) so BEWARE.

Ohhh and some of the records have descriptions in both spanish and english just for the sake of it and because they actually help me to get my thoughts together and to do a more focused inspection on the record, BUT i will translate all that, so don't worry.

Descrpitions made so far:

- Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
- The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen
- Kanye West - The College Dropout
- Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News (This record has now been removed from this chart, but the original description is in my other chart, which is a recollection of the records that were in here, but for a reason were eliminated)
- GZA- Liquid Swords
- Yes - Fragile
- Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
-Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane
-Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
-The Doors - Morrison Hotel
-The Cars - The Cars
-Babasónicos - Jessico (already translated)
-Pre)Thing - 22nd Century Lifestyle

Well, if you see more descriptions that aren't mentioned in here it might be because a) they aren't finished yet b) they suck... But anyway you are free to read them as well, I will try to finish them/improve them later... i just had a Déjà vu about this...

Well, enjoy!

EDIT: I'm totally convinced now that this chart sucks lol, don't get me wrong, I do love every single record i picked, but there is so much wasted potential and empty spaces that all in all, it just doesn't feel right, so I finally decided to improve it a little bit. You see, my biggest fear with this chart was not being able to give as many points as i think an artists deserve, and. I am truly sorry for every record that was left behind, i wish i could give every one of them 100 points, haha, but since i can't do that i will do my best to make this chart look how i think it should look. So as of now, i will apply the one artist per chart rule (EXCEPT for The Afghan Whigs, I really love that band) And additionally, i will do another chart with the albums that were eliminated from their position within the chart and also i will do another with my favorite records, so i won't have to be limited by the same rule again.

Yes, "Yes" is arguably my favourite prog-rock band out there and Fragile might be my favourite record from them.

The opening track "Roundabout it's a known meme, but it's still one of the greatest songs i have ever heard and i really mean it, it's impossible for me to not get excited when i hear the very first part of the song with that acoustic guitar, exploding and merging into that universal bassline and super groovy organ/piano melodies that we all know and love, and even more; the song goes on and on and on and it reaches something that i just can describe as a "macabre perfection" while speeding the tempo and sounding so effective and badass in the process. One can say "Cans And Brahms" and "We Have Heaven" are fillers, but i politely disagree, i believe those songs are required to regain the composture after such explosive track. "Cans And Brahms" is an instrumental passage that sounds so righteous that it's actually funny, and some parts sound like an early NES videogame particulary, it reminds me to the classic "game over screen". "We Have Heaven" it's a super catchy minute and a half tune that since the first time i listened to the record was stuck in my head, and couldn't help it, i had to listen to it again; "Tell the moon dog, tell the march hare" YES. "South Side Of The Sky" kicks so much ass it actually hurts (i mean it in the best way) the whole song works wonderfully, especially the chorus, i love the mid section of the song which turns kinda jazzy and has those classic Yes vocals and then it returns to that epic riff and structure that the song had. "Five Percent For Nothing" is the lower rated song of the record, and i can understand why, but i personally love it even if it was meant to be some kind of joke, it's just that it sounds so bizarre and out of place that it's so good, but yeah, it's way too short. "Long Distance Runaround" is another crazy experiment with those beach-esque guitars, that later would turn into a much more complex melody, culminating with some happy guitar notes that would transition into the next track, and somehow all that works just fine. "The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)" is mostly an instrumental song from which i love the intro, cause it sound so peaceful to me, but i really like the whole song. If you, somehow at this point happen to doubt Steve Howe's guitar skills "Mood for a Day" will, most likely change your mind, it's a beautiful acoustic song that serves as an intro for the epilogue of the record. "Heart Of Sunrise" is the longest track on the record and with Roundabout, it's maybe the best song in the whole album, and maybe one of the greatest Yes songs ever, the intro is so good, and has so much style, the combination of drums and that bassline is masterfully done, and then the "HOOOOOOOOOW CAN THE WINNNNNNNNNNNND WITH SO MANYYYYYYYYYY AROUUUND MEEEEEEEE" part comes and crushes you with its beauty, amazing, the ending of the song feels nightmarish, cause "We Have Heaven" plays once again but it's slightly different this time "YESSSSS". As a final note, i believe "America" would have been a nice addition to the record, cause its a killer song too.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.5/100, a mean average of 94.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 94.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.1.

Just here for the descriptions. Your music preference is your own. The justification is what makes the list great. Keep it up.

Always happy to see LCD up on top. Surprised to not see any Arcade Fire / Sigur Ros / War on Drugs. Feel like they'd tie-in well with your other albums on here. Cheers.

Man, this is just what I needed. Blonde On Blonde description is by far the greatest new thing I've read here in months.
