Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by

Edit: 12/03/2021 this is today's chart of the day, I just want to thank you all for being so nice and reciprocating, there are a lot of artists that I must check out and a lot of things i must put in order before finishing this, to be honest with you, I don't know if i will ever get to finish it, not because I don't want to, but because I don't have too much time nowadays, but yeah, whenever I have the chance to, i will re-visit this chart, delete albums, add albums, etc.
Look, this chart is a mess, mostly because i can't bring myself to advance as much as i would like to. But my idea is to make a chart that it's as equally divided; filled with popular records and with records that i think deserve more attention, a 50/50, if you will... But I don't have that kind of knowledge yet, well, maybe that isn't it, i think it's mostly that i want to pick records that i'll be comfortable with, and as of today i would say im about 30% happy with this chart, and look, I don't want to sound like a total indie guy or like someone who hasn't an opinion on his own either, or maybe even both. i'll try to utilize every space in this chart to say how i feel about the record and why i love it so much and give a little bit of trivia in the process, sometimes i will get so inspired that i will even try to write some bloody awful poetry, even if i know i might not have the widest vocabulary to do it. I do think that the one artist per chart rule is fair, but i don't want to use it, because there are so many records/artists i think they deserve all my love, even if they already had more than enough of it, lol, but that will change in the future (IT DID, SEE "EDIT") it's not like Radiohead or The Strokes need more points on BEA than they already have, so I don't know, we'll see... I do appreciate all feedback and even appreciate that you are here looking at this mess, i will update here each descriptions i have done, if you want to check them out you are free to do so, cause i honestly don't have any idea of when i'm going to finish this, but yeah, that's it.
I might be a lazy af, but when i do get to write, i write a lot (most of the time) so BEWARE.
Ohhh and some of the records have descriptions in both spanish and english just for the sake of it and because they actually help me to get my thoughts together and to do a more focused inspection on the record, BUT i will translate all that, so don't worry.
Descrpitions made so far:
- Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
- The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen
- Kanye West - The College Dropout
- Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News (This record has now been removed from this chart, but the original description is in my other chart, which is a recollection of the records that were in here, but for a reason were eliminated)
- GZA- Liquid Swords
- Yes - Fragile
- Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
-Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane
-Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
-The Doors - Morrison Hotel
-The Cars - The Cars
-Babasónicos - Jessico (already translated)
-Pre)Thing - 22nd Century Lifestyle
Well, if you see more descriptions that aren't mentioned in here it might be because a) they aren't finished yet b) they suck... But anyway you are free to read them as well, I will try to finish them/improve them later... i just had a Déjà vu about this...
Well, enjoy!
EDIT: I'm totally convinced now that this chart sucks lol, don't get me wrong, I do love every single record i picked, but there is so much wasted potential and empty spaces that all in all, it just doesn't feel right, so I finally decided to improve it a little bit. You see, my biggest fear with this chart was not being able to give as many points as i think an artists deserve, and. I am truly sorry for every record that was left behind, i wish i could give every one of them 100 points, haha, but since i can't do that i will do my best to make this chart look how i think it should look. So as of now, i will apply the one artist per chart rule (EXCEPT for The Afghan Whigs, I really love that band) And additionally, i will do another chart with the albums that were eliminated from their position within the chart and also i will do another with my favorite records, so i won't have to be limited by the same rule again.

Ah yes, Maroon 5; the best example of an average musical and mainstream pop act you can possibly get, and i have to agree on this one, but if anything, i have always been the devil's advocate when i feel to it, and i had this thing for accuracy that makes me going out of my way to see what is the discrepancy and in this case the thing is that... Sadly for a lot of people, it wasn't always like that. Yes, it's undeniable that a lot of their songs on their debut were written to be radio hits (not all of them) but there is really much more than that.
Songs About Jane is a good record; and there's not a single bad song in here and i do think it's rating on BEA is a bit biased (even though i know that it could be way worse) for the shitty music that they came to do afterwards, which i agree, it sucks, but this record is not remotely close to being as generic and as shallow as everything they did later; it's not overly-produced, not every song is commercial as fuck and there were actually some pretty catchy melodies and some nice lyrics here and there.
Of course, some of my opinions might seem biased, because being born in the late 90's and in México, where the main thing that i listened at the time was heavily influenced by the enviroment and not because it was a choice of my own... Back then there were some songs that i liked, there were some that i simply didn't care for, like, at all... but when i first saw the "She Will Be Loved" video on MTV back in 2004... It hitted me like a a thunder in times of drought, because shit was pretty hard at home and then suddenly between all those shitty moments, i felt the urge to listen to something, again and again and to watch the video while i was at it. It was so emotional and so good and maybe i liked it so much because it might have been an escape for an 6 year old child's reality or maybe it was cause even as i child i always loved drama (but never realized it, lol) and so i did grew up listening to these guys and having fond memories even on bad time and that video made me idealize relationships and gave some longing and nostalgic feeling that i couldn't find elsewhere, and if you ask me today... I'm still in love with the song and with the video, easily in my top 20 favourite songs of all time, needless to say, i'm still the same kid longing for the perfect thing to happen.
The record starts off with the successful "Harder To Breathe" a catchy pop-rock song, which if i remember correctly, it was the really first hit of Maroon 5, a good song that is obviously about a bad relationship... going bad. "This Love" the second track and another classic song of my childhood, so catchy and so good and it always makes me laugh that you can get the feeling of tiredness in the "she said goodbye too many times before" part of the song, it feels like a cycle that has worn him off, even if i really like the song but has never been my favourite, i think it might really be the essential Maroon 5 song, to be honest. I really like the vibe that "Shiver" has, it has a kind of generic guitar solo, but the main riff is good and the lyrics are fun to sing along to "THERE MAY NOT BE ANOTHER WAY..." It's plain, enjoyable pop. I don't think i really need to say more about "She Will Be Loved" i have always loved the song, i think it's their best, but i will talk about it later anyway, haha. "Tangled" has smooth instrumentals and some subtle feel to it, i really like the chorus, i never understood why but this song and "Shiver" kinda give me a bit of summer vibes, also, the bridge in "Tangled" makes me feel like i'm watching a milkshake machine working just fine, AHHHHHHHHH, i love that feeling...YEAH, BABY. "The Sun" and "Must Get Out" are among my favourite songs on the record as well, i think i love "The Sun" almost for the same reasons as why i love "Tangled" it feels so smooth, like walking on the streets of a city in hot afternoon, while you and a sexy chick are staring at each other. "Must Get Out" it's a sweet song, that Maroon 5 wanted to milk in a weird way, cause thing came out a single 3 YEARS AFTER THE RECORD WAS RELEASED, but that doesn't mean anything to my experience with the song. I love the "There's only so much i can do for you" of the song. And of course, "Sunday Morning" it's a classic too, super sweet three-chords song with kind of a bossanova vibe, as stupid as it sounds i would love to watch the rain with a coffee on my left hand while this song is playing at my home, it doesn't get any better than that, love it. The album's last track "Sweetest Goodbye" has maybe the best build up over any other song EVER, hahahahaha nah, i'm joking, but it has the best build up in the whole record.
So with all the crap, the usless information and opinions that i have given to you, i would say, overall this record is yes, kind generic, but for the most part has good sounds and good intentions and heart, it's just a fun pop-rock record, with some soul, and funky influences. if you don't like Maroon 5, give this album a chance, it might change a bit your mind about them (at least on what they were trying to do at first)
Favourite Tracks:
-This Love: Impossibly fun track, like i said, it's not my favourite, but it's always pleasent to listen to it, i loved the video too, it's just so sexual and visual, and i'm a sucker for all that
-She Will Be Loved: The reason why i prefer this song over any other track in the record it has to be with the points i mentioned above, but i can't seriously tell you how much i love this song, i associate it with a lot of things; those rainy days in 2004, the melancholy of having to spent the day without having anyone but your sad thoughts, and longing for someone, idealized dreams of loving and not desiring anything else, i really wanted to make someone feel beautiful, and i still do... and oh my god, that epic sigh Adam makes before the last chours, kills me.
-The Sun: I love the guitars here, everything is so balanced and so sexy, but in a calmer way than let's say "Sweetest Goodbye", super underrated track.
-Must Get Out: I have always found "Must Get Out" to be a sweet love song that works perfectly fine, it's not that sad, but it's not like the songs cheers you up, it's like being freeze when you need to get up, and you end up not doing nothing instead.
-Sunday Morning: Elegantly beautiful, makes you happy, from the piano melody to the sax, to Adam's voice, i think this is the best executed song in the whole record, such a fine piece of modern pop, that i hope people never forgot about.
-Sweetest Goodbye: "How does it feel to know you'll never have to be alone, when you get home?" Like i said, classic build-up and damn! this song is guilt made out of kerosene, i love all the drama and the intensity of this. [First added to this chart: 02/02/2020]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.5/100, a mean average of 94.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 94.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.1.

Some fantastic choices here
I love Amnesiac for Radiohead

The descriptions are great, love it. Great chart as a whole too, I've listened to most albums but grabbed some recs from those I haven't heard.
Great chart.
The descriptions are spot-on, man. Added to favorites, because I want to come back when there's more of them. Keep it up
Just here for the descriptions. Your music preference is your own. The justification is what makes the list great. Keep it up.
Always happy to see LCD up on top. Surprised to not see any Arcade Fire / Sigur Ros / War on Drugs. Feel like they'd tie-in well with your other albums on here. Cheers.
This chart is great! So many great albums and some others that must be great and I need to check.
buena lista
i liked mostly of your picks

I'm kinda unsatisfied with it to be honest, but i'm glad you liked it! that gave me a bit more energy to write some descriptions :) thanks a lot for your support man, i really have problems with managing my time, so i never finish anything :(

Man, this is just what I needed. Blonde On Blonde description is by far the greatest new thing I've read here in months.
