Top 100 Band Compilations by mrmcrook

All albums on this list I own and have listened to multiple times. Hence why some crucial ones may be missing. Because I don't have and own it.
Compilations can be great for finding out whether or not a bands studio albums are worth investigating, based on what their (supposed) best songs are.
I've discovered many bands/artists that I had known a couple of tracks of but had no intention of following them further. Until realizing that many of their songs that weren't commercially pushed were way way better than those that were.
And compilations are also a worthy addition to have of bands that you know you have absolutely not a shit show that you'd ever be bothered trolling through their albums

I knew a fair amount of FNM songs but this was the first of their CD's I got. Fantastic compilation. Full of all the gems and more. With them all collected together it makes you realize at just what a fucking great band Faith No More are. [First added to this chart: 08/23/2024]

I don't really classify this as a compilation as it's mainly demos, B-sides and other recordings not found on the studio albums. This is my favorite Nirvana album. It's not even grunge. It's rock n roll. [First added to this chart: 08/23/2024]

My introduction to Nick Cave. Absolutely smitten. Have now got 7 of his studio albums. All of them gold. This discovery has put him into God mode as to have that many albums of top quality is a rarity [First added to this chart: 08/23/2024]

I prefer this over the studio albums I have from them. They've chosen the correct tracks to make this killer right through. I find the studio albums a touch to long and a bit to much sub par filler on them [First added to this chart: 08/24/2024]

What can you say? There's nobody like Jimi. But I do have a copy of 'Are You Experienced' which has all tracks from both the US and the UK versions on it. That alone is better than this. [First added to this chart: 08/24/2024]

This is how I discovered The Violent Femmes. Very happy . Great compilation. Mostly short, catchy tunes you can't help but sing along too. [First added to this chart: 08/24/2024]
