I'm blown away by how far Trevor Powers has taken his sound with this record, while keeping intact the simplicity he executed so perfectly on The Year Of Hibernation.

I appreciate the list of tracks you've listed in your introductory note for this chart! I wholeheartedly agree with "Song for Zula" and "Wakin on a Pretty Day" in particular. Some albums from your chart that I'd like to single out for special praise include Once I Was an Eagle (one of the all-time great breakup albums), Wakin on a Pretty Daze (some wonderful laid-back guitar work), Muchacho ("Song for Zula" alone makes it one of the year's best), and The Silver Gymnasium (my favorite of the year). Great work--I'd love to see what your final 20 spots for the year might look like!

Great Chart. Im surprised that not more people have rated the new albums by John Grant and Josh Ritter. Id be interested in your opinion.

I wish i had the time to listen to so many albums this year. I think the Atoms For Peace and Bowie records will be my first ones to try. Id also recommend King Of Conflict by The Virginmarys.
