Time to wrap up the year 1995 but first the last albums I listened to of that year:
- Exit Planet Dust by The Chemical Brothers (nr 54 on the overall BEA top chart of 1995): this is not a bad album when considering some of the tracks like Leave Home but overall not really my thing
- Pulse by Pink Floyd (nr 55): normally I don't include live albums which bring nothing new but I wanted to make an exception for this one just because I had never listened to it yet and I wanted to know how some of my favorite Pink Floyd songs sounded like without Roger Waters and I must say the album as a whole is a bit underwhelming and favorites like Shine On You Crazy Diamonds, Wish You Were Here and Breathe even sound a bit muzak like and less good than on the regular albums. The one exception is Comfortably Numb with a very extended and very good guitar solo which makes it even better sounding than the one on the Wall.
- Frogstomp by Silverchair (nr 56): It really sound like Pearl Jam (too) light.
- Disco Volante by Mr. Bungle (nr 57 and the last album with an overall BEA rank better than 2500): a bit too experimental and weird for my taste.

And this ends my journey of 1995 albums. I can't say I didn't discover any good albums (Tindersticks 2!) but overall this year dragged on a bit too long.

This is the final verdict with at the start the overall BEA rank and after that the BEA year rank and then my personal rank before and after this listening sessions.

What an incredible list! I'm especially impressed to see the albums in bold so high. Tons of great stuff though.

And here is my first contribution for the year 2000, if I see the album which is the first in my list (Sweet Bird of Youth by The Rock*A*Teens) can't really be a very good year.

And I have already listened to some of these albums:
- Kid A by Radiohead (nr 1 on the overall BEA top chart of 2000): although of course I know and own this album I feel I couldn't start this year without listening to this album again which is ranked the 6th on the overall BEA site and which in my opinion was totally overrated. So I listened to it again and although there are at least five tracks which are at least good I honestly can't see this album as a masterpiece and in any case nowhere near the same league as The Bends or OK Computer. I did increase the score of some of the tracks I really rated low below but my general opinion about it hasn't changed.
- The Moon & Antarctica by Modest Mouse (nr 2): The only reason I didn't listen to this album before is because it isn't available on Itunes but I listened to it via Youtube. To me this isn't the best Modest Mouse album because they haven't yet reached the interesting weirdness of some of the following albums but overall I will nevertheless include it in my personal top chart of the year.
- the next three album are just albums I really don't like at all so I'll quote them together: The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem (nr 5) then Since I Left You by The Avalanches (nr 6) and then Stankonia by OutKast (nr 8 ).

The next album I will listen to is Relationship of Command by At The Drive-In.
  • Quote
Now I'm entering a puddle of mud (haha I'm laughing out loud with my own stupid joke): a number of nu-metal records that I absolutely didn't like for a bit:
- Relationship Of Command by At The Drive-In (nr 10 in the overall BEA top chart of 2000): I suppose many people technically would call this nu-metal but to me it certainly has the same feel at least when I look at the (lack of) quality of the songwriting and the horrid screaming of the singer.
- Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park (nr 12): supposed to be one of the better albums by this band: if this is the case I don't want to listen to the rest of their albums.
- White Pony by Deftones (nr 13): also this album is supposed to have some artistic qualities that their other albums don't seem to have but I didn't find them. And to think that Limp Bizkit follow later ๐Ÿ˜ข

The next album to listen to is completely different: Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams.

Yeah. I LOVE this album. Will be curious to hear your thoughts.

Some more albums of the year 2000 I listened to:
- Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams (nr 14 on the overall BEA top chart of 2000): I really liked AMY a lot but the rest of the album is a bit too country-ish for me to really appreciate it although the songwriting in some of the first songs of the album is great. Nevertheless I will not include it in my personal top chart.
- De Stijl by The White Stripes (nr 15): I'm not the biggest fan of the White Stripes because they suffer a bit of the same problem as most of the two-person bands: lack of variety, and on this album this is even more so than on some of their others. To me only Let's Build A Home is very good, the rest is average so not enough for my personal top chart of the year.
- Voodoo by D'Angelo (nr 17): I just don't like that general feeling of uttermost smoothness on his albums
- Deltron 3030 by Deltron 3030 (nr 19): just another hiphop album
- XTRMNTR by Primal Scream (nr 20): This is an album I thought, before I listened to it, that I would never in the world would put in my personal chart. But I'm having second thoughts. First it's very energetic with its overall driving sound on tracks like Blood Money which also has a very jazzy feeling to it. Although there are some weaker tracks the final verdict is: I will include it in my personal top chart.

The next album to listen to is Dopethrone by Electric Wizard.
  • Quote
Some more albums of 2000 I listened to:
- Dopethrone by Electric Wizard (nr 21 on the overall BEA top chart of 2000): this is a monster of an album and a bit of a shame I don't know this album already because it's a classic in it's genre and even goes a step further than where Black Sabbath has ever been: very mighty riffing especially on the first two and last two tracks of the album. This should have been already on my top chart.
- Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished by Avey Tare & Panda Bear (nr 22): Chocolate Girls is very good and Alvin Row has it's good parts although this track is a bit too long but the rest of the album couldn't really convince me because a bit too bleepy.
- Felt Mountain by Goldfrapp (nr 23): not really my thing.
- Supreme Clientele by Ghostface Killah (nr 29): really not my thing
- Building Nothing Out Of Something by Modest Mouse (nr 30): although this album is marked as a compilation I've decided to include this one here because it's mainly a series of B-sides and outtakes not appearing on other regular albums and it is certainly not of a lesser quality than the regular albums. Not the greatest album in the world but certainly good enough for my personal top chart of the year.
- Mer De Noms by A Perfect Circle (nr 32): I don't like the singer and I don't like the songs of this album.

The next album to listen to is Lightbulb Song by Porcupine Tree, a band I'm starting to appreciate more and more so I'm looking forward to discover it.

Totally. I LOVE this album, and pretty much consider it essential Modest Mouse.

And yeah, that Dopethrone album is just sick. I've had a lot parties with my boys to that album!

And more:
- Lightbulb Sun by Porcupine Tree (nr 33 on the overall BEA top chart of 2000): I didn't find it on Apple Music and first listened to Youtube but then decided to buy it because it's really that good and immediately jumps towards the top of my personal top chart of 2000. The album has a very Pink Floydian look and feel: vast soundscapes with very good layered guitar work and good epic songs. Highlights are Shesmovedon, Russia On Ice and Feel So Low.
- Music by Madonna (nr 40): after the highlight in her career (Ray Of Light) this one is a bit downer because fairly bland popmusic. Only I Deserve It is not bad but that's not good enough to make this a worthwhile album for me.
- Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water by Limp Bizkit (nr 41): There is a forum post on this band as an example of bad music and it is: nu-metal is already not my favorite genre and this album is one of the worst of the genre.

The next album to listen to is Mass Romantic by The New Pornographers.
