This album has grown on me quite a bit. I was just thinking this was the last tour I saw Malkmus on Pre-Covid. The drum machine tracks are fun, typical tongue-in-cheek lyrics, there’s even some emotional moments like Ocean of Revenge. I think this album will come to be appreciated with time.

Real unemotional trash: I'm a fan of Stephen Malkmus but this is not his best even after a few efforts.

Back in the 90s, (except for Slanted & Enchanted) I tried, I really tried with Pavement but to no avail, so it’s with some surprise to find how easy this lp is to like. Of course, being touted as Malkmus’ electronic album helps, as well as conjuring up names like The Normal, Fad Gadget & Cabaret Voltaire to his usual mix of ermm, Pavement-rock. It is a grand re-invention, indeed.
