Originally recorded in the late 40s and into the 1950s with an all-star band of players, Mulligan re-assembled the group in the early 1990s, with some shifts in personnel due to death and lack of availability, to re-play the material which was originally released in the 50s as "Birth Of The Cool". Mulligan orchestrated this 1992 re-imagining of the music and titled it "Re-Birth Of The Cool" adding a vocal version of "Darn That Dream" with Mel Torme on vocals. In addition to Mulligan repeating his Baritone Sax duties, Bill Barber on tuba, Dean Johnson on bass, Ron Vincent on drums, Wallace Roney on trumpet, Phil Woods on alto sax, John Lewis on piano, John Clark on French Horn, and Dave Bargeron on trombone. Released on GRP Records (Cat#: GRD-9679) the album is a big success. Authenticated on discogs.com
