I really don't know what's happening with hip hop right now but it's having a renaissance. The amount of excellent releases in the last few years is astonishing.
My most straightforward list maybe since nowadays I just tend to follow year end lists.

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Really love this chart - great mix of mainstream albums as well as a healthy dose of the obscure. All that's needed for me are some notes and this would be perfect in my eyes!

I was so hesitant to include mix albums like Fabric and Berghain in my charts, then I said "what the fuck". They are great, so they SHOULD be there. I'm glad someone else thought the same way. Heh heh.

Of the material I'm familiar with here, I'm especially fond of Born to Die, Wounded Rhymes, Treats, and Visions, all of which are incredibly creative forays into the deep reaches of what pop music can be. And of course, there is much here that I'm not familiar with at all. I think I'm going to start my listening with Prince of Denmark's The Body. Thanks for providing so many opportunities for exploration!
