Top 100 Greatest Music Albums
by Pierre0609
This chart shows how I feel music, not how I understand it. If most of albums are from 00s it's because I can live, sleep, dance, cry and shout on that music without thinking I'm an idiot.

If I could I would have put almost all Muse albums at the first places of this chart but it's better to diversify a but. Anyway Origin of symmetry is the album that made me get more interest in prog rock in general thanks to its own diversity of rythms, mélodies and harmonies. Such songs as Plug in baby or New born are strong enough to push me far away. Dark shines starts sweet and slow just to make you more crazy when M. Bellamy plays his solos on hard rythms behind. Bliss is so well named. I wish I would have written the lyrics. "Give me all the peace and joy in your mind". That summarizes well this album finally.

Best Oasis album ever. Music is not the most original one but "definitely certainly" the most touching. The gallagher brothers knew what is the melody that will reach of most people. They did not create a style, but just make it available to everyone. And that's to me the most difficult part of a musician job. As such this album is unarguably the best

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 73.0/100, a mean average of 69.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 17.5.

Everything I listened to in high school and soon forgot about. And I'm sorry but David Guetta and Maroon 5? No. Just no. Looks like a Billboard chart.

I'm surprised you do not list more French bands though. Bands like Air & Phoenix are worth being promoted.

It's always nice to see Origin of Symmetry top the chart and you to express your interest for prog rock due to this album; maybe you should listen to some '70's prog then. Even if you enjoy the 2000's (like me) I would prefer if you had some older albums you enjoy too apart from Queen, still it's your chart and it is like fresh air to me so well done.

For someone who gives such harsh ratings to some of the best albums not only in recent memory, but of all time, this chart is supremely underwhelming. Not much variety, only 5 albums before 1990, a huge tendency on including pop-rock and not much else. I do agree with some choices, but this list is nothing interesting.
