The Story of My Life (as told through albums)
by samistake2ice

Self Explanatory. Each of these albums represents a year of my life. I suggest more people make lists like this. I think it would be interesting.

Thanks to sp4acetiger for the idea.

1987: My Dad was a huge Stones guy. When I was a baby he used to rock me and hum the riff from "Miss You." The riff always stuck with me, although I didn't know what song it was. It took me 20-some-odd years to finally figure out from where it came. Thanks internet! [First added to this chart: 02/17/2014]

1988: The Kingston Trio (along with a lot of 50s - 60s folk) was a staple in the house when I was a kid. My uncle was in a similar kinda band. I remember this album from my Moms vinyl collection. [First added to this chart: 02/17/2014]

1990: Some how this year got skipped when I initially created this chart. It proved quite difficult to find the perfect album to represent my 1990. The whole "urban cowboy" thing was very trendy in the late 80s and my folks were very much a part of it, that coupled with the fact that in this year I now lived in Houston, choosing the soundtrack from Urban Cowboy just seemed to fit. Some pretty good tunes on there as well, although I cant stand that fucking movie. [First added to this chart: 02/22/2014]

1991: My entire childhood I was an Elvis nut. I had Elvis cologne. I had a little black Elvis jumpsuit. That's how I styled my hair. I sang All Shook Up in a talent show when I was seven. I had this album on cassette. [First added to this chart: 02/17/2014]

1992: My folks had the 64-67 albums on vinyl, but this was one of the first CDs I remember getting. I'm pretty sure it was for Christmas. At the time, I didn't even care for the music (except for "Hello, Goodbye") I much preferred the pop hits of earlier "Beatlemania." Any way, years later I grew into it and still have the CDs in my car. [First added to this chart: 02/17/2014]

1993: Fuck Off. I loved Ace of Base when I was 7-8. Who didn't? I even did an Elementary School science project based around the results of test taking ability while listening to this album. I was a really cool kid. [First added to this chart: 02/17/2014]

1994: Great Movie, Great Soundtrack. I remember visiting family in Santa Fe and my cousin and I sang "I Just Cant Wait to Be King" basically every where we went. Again, I was really cool kid. [First added to this chart: 02/17/2014]

1995: One of the most traumatic moments in my life was when I was at home with a babysitter, and there was an armed break-in. I was hiding in my room, and the intruders turned on the downstairs stereo system. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" exploded throughout the house. The song and album still give me goosebumps. A very original idea. Obviously a lot of work has gone into it.
