"Another superb offering by the Doors, this album shows off the bands considerable strengths, tight instrumental playing underscores memorable material with Morrison's authorative vocal ranges."  Reply

"Is it better than Boxer? I don't know, but the fact that I'm having this discussion at all says what I need to say about the quality of this record. A beautiful, apocalyptic masterpiece."  Reply

"I'm not generally an alto fan, but this album made me a believer. Adderley was the master of the alto and this is his finest work. The ensemble are tight and lay down jazz that is hot, cool and swinging. Two big thumbs up."  Reply

"These guys are punk. These guys are pop. The vocals are great and the instrumental is tight! Some remind Joe Strummer, others don't. A good rock'n'roll record in this era where it seems more and more outdated."  Reply

"Recording for this album began in 1967 before it eventually came out around the middle of 1968 and despite mixed critical appraisal would become the bands only number one album as well as giving them a second number one single with “Hello, I Love You” ‘Waiting For The Sun’ has always been a Doors..."  [+]  Reply

"It's more fun than "Songs for the Deaf", although lacks the latter's maturity. Enjoyable as a whole, with some standout tracks: "Secret", "Chemistry" and "Headache" would be my top picks."  Reply

"The first album is great, but this is their defining statement. The sound and feel is better, even on the buzz saw songs which is what the first album was almost all about. The writing here is stronger over two full sides, and this one even boasts some variety. 'Sheena' and 'Cretin' maintain the ..."  [+]  Reply
