One of the best albums my parents showed me as a kid. I love every piece of it. One of the most defining-challenging ever albums, but one of the best too. [First added to this chart: 12/10/2010]

Nirvana begins at this, and begins well. Surely it isn't as great as Nevermind or In Utero. However it shows what pure grunge is like. [First added to this chart: 09/09/2010]

The rock album all teenagers loved in the 80s. And they were absolutely right. Axl's voice and Slash's guitar riffs never sounded better than they did in this album. Absolutely a generation-defining album. [First added to this chart: 09/09/2010]

Pixies in their purest form. Strange, even spooky sometimes but everything is great here. Listening to it makes you want to break somebody's bones. And believe me, that'll feel great. [First added to this chart: 09/09/2010]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.6/100, a mean average of 83.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 14.0.

Pretty solid list so far. Would recommend Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins if you haven't heard them yet.

Some great choices...maybe a bit too much Nirvana for me, but otherwise very good.

I never really thought about it but "God only knows where I'd be without you" has got to be one of the best lines ever

Interesting choices, though too heavy handed on Nirvana. I definitely want to check out the Portuguese artists as I am a huge fan of Brazilian music myself.

Really good chart. Alot in common and you even had a few that are 'just outside' my top 50.
