The nearest you will get in rock music to a Mahler symphony. It will either blow you away or it will not be your cup of tea at all. [First added to this chart: 07/12/2013]

Sufjan Stevens completely transcends the singer/songwriter album. These songs reach into the core of your soul. This isn't just a collection of songs, it is a religion. [First added to this chart: 07/12/2013]

My favourite Bowie album. First side packed with terrific and diverse singles. It's No Game makes my tiny hairs tingle. But it's the B side I enjoy the most - hugely inventive songs and arrangements.
Robert Fripp said that he spread burning guitar over this album.
Go to the Bowie exhibition and see Edward Bell's magnificent artwork for the cover and the Fashion lyrics that didn't make the final cut - brutal stuff.

The final instalment of the Eno trilogy sees the Heads at their very best. With some wonderful contributions from Adrian Belew on guitar and the wonderful Jon Hassell on trumpet. [First added to this chart: 07/12/2013]

Always nice to see Close to the Edge at the top. The list is perhaps not varied enough for my taste, but it reminded me of a few things I that I really have to check out, mainly Talking Heads and Brian Eno; being a huge Bowie fan, I should've done that a long time ago...

Hi tomr,
I´m checking the albums from your list that I don´t know from time to time:
Andrew Bird: Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
It´s a pity that I recognize him so lately.
Like a modern Cale/Buckley.
Thanks for that.
Venetian Snares: Interesting but sometimes I wish them to be harder, than I wish them to be softer.
maybe it´s my problem...
Please go for the next 50!

Thanks for the Eno suggestions! The gaps are from my own incomplete listening, I'll definitely check out your suggestions! Eno is my favorite artists, so I really should have listened to his whole discography by now... there's just so much!
