Top 50 Greatest Music Albums
by amin67 Unknown

there is only one album from each band, you know 50 is a very small number, it was a disaster for legendery bands who had many good albums,
Don't take this chart that seriously! I just play with it sometimes, if you're interested in my real ratings please visit my rym profile:

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 83.4/100, a mean average of 80.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 15.8.

I can't argue with the quality of the picks, but the list feels a little to eager to please, I want to be surprised by something. I still had some fun looking through though, so you get a good score anyway.

I really like your chart,It's a great collection, showing a broad taste in music(in spite of your rigid, fastidious, unbending attitude).

Thanks for your comment.
If by "pretentious" you mean why there's no trace of Coldplay, Muse, The Killers, Blur and Oasis on my chart, well, I don't think these bands are really great, they are some sort of advanced beatmakerss, their attitude is more like mainstream show-biz idols, more or less they do the same thing in order to satisfy their huge fanbase. Maybe the music itself is great, but the idea and style isn't expandable.
I visited your chart, though I don't Pabloalto, Starsailor and Metric, but the rest is familiar. It was nice to see Against Me! In your chart.

I just saw your 2010's list and man! you've listen to so many album and as far as I am familiar with them, they are significant picks. Loved to see Deerhunter, Local Native, Spoon or Antony and the Johnsons. Although I can't find the point that why 'Lisbon' is on such a low rate. I would consider it on my top 5. By the way it is just the matter of tast in the view of your interesting and diverse collection.
