Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

This project was started during the Global Pandemic of 2020. I have started a list of nearly 1,700 albums in order of release that includes the full discography of my favorite all time artists and great selections from other sources such as the Rolling Stone 500. My goal is to listen to them all, rate and rank them, selecting each through a Random Number Generator. So far I have discovered some amazing songs, albums and artists I overlooked. Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

Interesting list! You can definitely tell the person is an 80s aficionado. I personally have own the top two albums on record, and I can confidently say Purple Rain doesn't compare to something like What's Going On, but it is definitely in the top 20 albums ever! Nevertheless, cool list!

Not a bad list. Difference of opinion is the only thing keeping my score at 80. But i understand the choices.
