Top 100 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:

n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 84.9/100, a mean average of 79.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 23.2.

As I've said before, the prime point of this site (I thought by the give-away of the site title!) is to establish what are the greatest albums of all time. Therefore everyone's greatest list should contain their favourite albums, which I would expect to contain a fair percentage of those albums in the overall chart. The 'clever', 'interesting' and sadly pretentious picks can be reserved for custom charts (I know that will mean that far fewer people will look at them, but that's the way it is). So I'm completely with Larcx13 on this! (Edited)

what a generic list, zero personality. 5 of top 10 albums are from just 2 artists which really shows how shallow is this list (Edited)

Wow.... there's so many pretentious pricks on this website. Your list is fine man. zwiebel and RioBravo sound like complete dicks on here.
Youve got Cunninlynguists up there which I find awesome! Deltron 3030 is far from being this site's favorite lol. They clearly must have only seen your top 10 to write the garbage comments they wrote lol. (Edited)

Cool chart ~ your choices pretty much coincide with the majority views on this site - which is fine and for the majority of charts, not unexpected (pure maths in that statement!).
In terms of rating charts, I prefer those that are a bit more diverse (by nationality, by artist, by hemisphere) and reveal something different & unique ~ something that might lead me to discover something new & exciting. (Edited)
