"Will Oldham should really have changed his moniker again for this one. Because he's all grown up. This is no longer Will channeling a Bonnie "Prince" Billie to sing about the darkest recesses of his soul. This is just Will. Producing some of the best mature country & indie rock songs about love a..."  [+]  Reply

"not the best deftones album. definitely something for every fan though. You can tell the band had some internal issues during the long process the album took to make"  Reply

"Sort of a new way to render No Wave. There is melody but without any logic direction in its evolution. Instead, the focus is all on the martial/obsessive drum patterns or in the pictorial use of guitars. What's interesting and intriguing is that this kind of No Wave does not sacrifice care on sou..."  [+]  Reply

"Absolutely brilliant album, gives me chills every listen, a close second behind "The Mantle". Not quite as good but a pioneering work by the band, the album consists of some of their greatest work with ground-shattering tracks like "Limbs" or "Unlike the Waves"."  Reply

"I think this album anticipates a lot of the ostentatiously produced folk music that would become super popular in the last chunk of the decade, which is pretty interesting considering just who it is we're talking about here. Now that I think of it, has indie rock/folk's roots ever been severed ve..."  [+]  Reply

"This anticipates the return to form that was Backspacer. There are a handful of very worthwhile tracks on this including the understated, underrated Come Back and the very lovely Marker in the Sand."  Reply
