"Engravings has a fantastic atmosphere and the sounds keep it interesting the whole way through. The songwriting sort of loses me occasionally though. Certain parts do feel a bit repetitive and I'd prefer if the melodies had more direction. The closing track is absolutely stunning and I just wish ..."  [+]  Reply

"Bland is one of the five greatest singers of all time. His voice, tone, phrasing are wonderful. And this album is a masterpiece every bit with many jewels like "I'll Take Care Of You", the tittle track and above all, "Lead Me On". You know how it feels-you understand What is it to be a stranger, ..."  [+]  Reply

"I liked this album a lot more than I initially anticipated. A couple of the songs on this were really, really good. I especially liked the songs Rattle that Lock and In Any Tongue."  Reply

"Of course everybody refers to their first album as their best but in my opinion this album is nearly as good; not only because it has their best track (Ever Fallen In Love) but also because all the other ones are top Buzzcocks as well (with Operators Manual as the second best)."  Reply

"The album begins with some great cover versions. The second part dissolves in less coherent pieces and falls apart a bit. I really like the addition of the Hammond organ on this album, as well as the drumming, which is great. Overall a 70 or 75/100."  Reply
