"I have so much respect for this album and this band. I'll keep it short. First Things First brings sheds light on depression and suicide. Frontman Matt Smith seems to both express his pain, and address the issue. It's not a feel good album, it's not a sad album. The songs are somehow hopeful, tho..."  [+]  Reply

"I always try and avoid albums with 'featured' artists, always looks like 'help I've run out of ideas' to me. Two good tracks here, Game of Love and Victory is Won. The 'Feat.' Chad Kroeger one is OK too. I really hate 'featuring' what is wrong with 'with'??"  Reply

"M. Ward would be a good act to see in a big, rowdy bar. Songs like "never had nobody like you" and "rave on" would have the crowd smiling and singing along between slugs of beer. "jailbird" also shows off his playful side. The rest of the album shows that he's mastered his form of americana as I ..."  [+]  Reply

"For me, this album is a beautiful reminder that the human voice might just be the most powerful instrument there is. Tamino’s voice is so emotionally rich — it hits straight to the core. I find myself feeling everything: chills, tears, nostalgia, longing, even spontaneous smiles. It’s rare to con..."  [+]  Reply

"Doubling down on their krautrock stylings, Beak> couch their doom-laden songs in fuzz and fug to the point that not much is clearly audible except for the synth arpeggios, which build a paranoid sense of suspense. The vocals are particularly obfuscated until the final track, the wistful folksy ba..."  [+]  Reply
