Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.6/100, a mean average of 77.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.7.

In terms of pop punk this is a very good record, probably peak of this genre.
Their best album for me. Kerplunk has a few songs that I think are their best songs, but as an album this is the most consistently good. Other albums such as 39/Smooth and American Idiot also are good, but this is their absolute peak.
There are some great songs on here but there is just too much filler which holds it back from being amongst the greatest. When they get the formula right on here you get irresistible pop punk songs that will get lodged in your head for days. These songs include She, Basket Case, When I Come Around and a few more. When this doesn't work however it leads to some really plain and boring songs that have no substance behind it. This makes it so easy to get sucked out of the record unless you sit there just anticipating the next big song and ignoring the filler ones. Overall, the consistency of this record is a bit all over the place but there are some absolute classics amongst the track list.
I tried, I really did; and it is not that i detest punk; I love the Sex Pistols. But Green Day, I just don't get it. Completely at a loss how this gets so highly rated by so many people with whom, besides Green Day, I seem to have a lot in common in terms of music taste. That's the beauty of taste, I suppose.

Escucharlo a tope.
One of the more overrated albums from one of the more overrated bands of the 1990's.
Un punk rock efficace
Not at all revelatory, but good energy and catchy songs beyond the ones you already know.
I always had issues with people calling this pop punk. It's heavier than the skate/pop punk that came after and even some of the punk rock that came before. Sure it's catchy, but most punk, except for a fair amount of hardcore bands, is catchy.
