Some of my favourite bands drew their inspiration from this album, and it is obvious why. Influence aside, this album is over half an hour of fantastic music.
The singles live on to this day as rock hits. Even those who aren't fans of the genre will recognize "When I Come Around" or "Welcome to Paradise". "Dookie" is fun to listen to, and it is a must-listen to while growing up. Teenagers of any era can relate to Armstrong's struggles of boredom, addiction, identity, loneliness, confusion, rebellion, angst, and so much else. This album will live on for generations because it is something almost anyone can relate to and have fun listening to.
Explosive Pop-punk at its best. The low production values add to the gritty sound of this album. The classic 'Basketcase' case can be found here along with many other great songs.

First time i heard this, I thought it was pretty overrated, It's slowly grown on me and now i really can appreciate what it did for punk, and wow are there some great tracks on here

This is the stuff... Vintage 90s alternative at its peak... What a great 94, wouldn't go as far as to call it punk but it still holds a magic that very few albums can mantain. A pitty what these guys became 10 years after, someone should do them a favour and force them to stop recording in order to preserve the legacy of this great album...
Are Green Day punk? I don't know and I don't care. All that matters to me is that this is an excellent album. "Longview", "Welcome To Paradise", and "Basket Case" are among my favourite songs of the 90s.
