Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.7/100, a mean average of 67.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.1.

The negative ratings for this are 100% a reaction to the fact the she put out Pop 2, Charli and How I'm Feeling Now and this is not that.

But come on now, of course Charli is going to have a good sounding record, and while this is definitely less adventurous, more throwback and less hyperpop-y and overall more accessible (and her most commercially successful record) it's a fine addition to her discography.

I biked around Miami Beach for the first time listening to this thing, and I'll never forget coming over the bank and seeing the Pacific ocean for the first time when "Move Me" came on after "Beg For You" and "Constant Repeat" like come on, you can dislike that it's not hyperpop but it's a perfectly fine standalone record in Charli's discog. I for one like hearing her more natural sounding voice for the first time since Sucker.

I love both eighties nostalgia and modern pop music, so had a real good time with this one :p

“Crash” sees Charli XCX move from hyper pop into more conventional styles. The sound is a combination of contemporary pop and 80’s revival. Overall, this is crafted very competently though lacking a special touch. The choruses exist in the realm of memorable enough to recall but not to be stuck in your head. Lyrically, most songs are explorations of romantic relationships, both successful and not. Unfortunately, none are given the pathos to connect to. “Crash” is not dramatic negatively or positively, it instead makes its way through pleasant mediocrity. Perhaps the album should have been named bump instead.

I'm a big fan of Charli. This is her worst album since more than 5 years IMO. Still liked a couple of track like lightning and new shapes
