Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.6/100, a mean average of 75.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.8.

Selected random Album to listen to and this came up. I know nothing about the Jesus Lizard, but as it starts up and the year 1991, the grungey / Smashing Pumpkins vibe was my first though. Song 2 no not Blur but there Song 2 is called Mouth Breather preempting Stranger Things by 30 years or so. This is much heavier musically and more punky vocally. So I cheked them put on Wikipedia and they have been produced by the likes of Steve Albini (Nirvana) and Andy Gill (Gang of four) so that makes sense. Anyway interetsing if not exactly original

Listened to it because some friend said they were great. They really kick ass, this superb album needs to be more recognized. Really raw to be punk.

After a handful of listens, it's finally catching on! These guys are fucking maniacal. Love the arpeggios and guitar texture.

It's 3am and the hostile lunatic outside won't stop shouting. Keep him away from the children.

Heavy heavy music, vocals of the pain and agony, foreboding air of the long lost well. It's got plenty of things going to create enjoyable (in the sense of horror) expereince and yet it seems a little off the mark. Gives of this cult status more than anything. 'Then Comes Dudley' and 'Mouth Breather' are high points. If you like this check out their album 'Blue'. Not much else to say, probably needs a good dozen listens to become a favorite.
