Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist is rated in the top 3% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 80.0/100, a mean average of 79.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.9/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 20.1.

As good as this band's music is, I just can't enjoy their music anymore knowing that the lead singer is a predator. I know, separate the art from the artist, but its hard to do that when the artist youre supposed to separate is the lead singer.

I don't share the reverence of the previous posters towards this band. To me, Brand New are/were a top 'emo' band. However, I was never crazy about this wave in music... Best of an OK bunch?

My favorite band of all time, they have in my opinion a near flawless discography with lots of variety.

What makes them stand out among the other less notable bands in the "Emo" scene is their willingness to experiment and go outside their box and still always deliver amazing albums.

They also had a lot of luck giving them a lot of hype. First off they scored a record deal only after their second ever show. And for their first album "Your Favorite Weapon" they gained a lot of buzz because of their "beef" with Taking Back Sunday.

Altough not gaining a ton of critical praise at that point, that would soon change with their second album "Deja Entendu"; An album which dared to go outside the emo-pop blueprint and maturing the sound, which turned out to be the perfect next step for the band, gaining critical praise and also scoring two succesful singles aswell as the album eventually selling gold.

The band would disappear from the world for three years with fans eagerly awaiting a followup. What they got was 9 leaked demos in 2006 called by fans "Fight Off Your Demons". This would make their next album get a ton more hype, and boy did it live up to the hype. The same year the band released "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me" and almost universally praised album by fans and critics alike, taking a way more mature and heavy approach to the music.

And in 2009, Brand New released their fourth album, Daisy; a highly anticipated album which met with a polarizing response. The album was their darkest yet aswell as their most artistic statement. Altough most fans have come to appreciate and love the album for what it is.

And six years later, their cult-following of fans are still awaiting a fifth studio album. Please Brand New, release a new album already!!!

1. The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me 10/10
2. Your Favorite Weapon 9/10
3. Deja Entendu 9/10
4. Daisy 9/10
5. Fight Off Your Demons 8/10

The funny thing about this band is that their best work was never released (properly anyway). If "Fight Off Your Demons" had been released as a finished album instead of leaked demos, it'd be in my top ten easily.

Seems weird to me that Daisy is last, I guess it is more recent and people haven't decided where it fits for them in their best albums charts. In my opinion it is comparable to devil&god with the earlier two just behind

Every album is so completely different! Always based around genius lyrics. Even if the 2nd and 3rd albums (Deja & the devil and god) are far superior to the first and 4th.

Even after many years, they remain my favourite band to see live. Nothing can beat a 10minute closer of "You Won't Know"
