Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 76.2/100, a mean average of 74.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.5.

Underrated on this website. Just a good rock 'n' roll band. Paul Rodgers has a voice for rock.
WOAT band
My personal favorite band of all time, though I only like the first five albums. Simple, no-nonsense rock. It doesn't bother me that they don't make political statements in their songs. I don't listen to rock music for that. Paul Rodgers is the best rock singer, in my opinion. How he and Bad Company aren't in the CROCK and roll hall of SHAME, while Donna Summer, Madonna, and other bands that have nothing to do with rock music are is a joke.
After the break up of Free, Rodgers and Kirke recruited Ralphs (ex Mott the Hoople) and Burrell (ex King Crimson) to form the ‘Supergroup’ Bad Company in 1973. Managed by the legendary Peter Grant (of Led Zeppelin fame) the band signed to Island Records in the UK and Zeppelin’s own label, Swansong in the US.
They were an instant success with their powerful rock style showcasing Rodgers strong vocals and Ralph’s bluesy guitar sound. They found equal favour on both sides of the Atlantic and scored significant chart success. Their first three albums were all million sellers and their success continued throughout the mid 70’s.
Although Bad Company’s brand of bar room rock was nothing new their music was arguably the first incarnation of ‘cock rock’ , a genre full of machismo which would be developed by the likes of Bon Jovi and many other eighties US bands. The band broke up in 1979 only to reform for a brief period in 1982. Although hugely successful the group’s status seems to have diminished over the years and the reality is that other than the hits singles most of the album tracks a derivative and lacklustre
Got to agree with capt. Dude. Great lead singer in Paul Rodgers & obviously check out Free as well. No nonsense rock.
A strong, hard-driving rock group. There's no sonic landscapes on their albums, no deep, political statements are made...just guitars, drums and straight-forward rock songs. Enjoy a nice pilsner while listening to their catalog.
