how can it be that i am the first to even COMMENT on this superlative LP, much less as a favourite or DARE I SAY IT one of the best albums of the 70s? spirit came out of L.A. in the late sixties with a sound that combined jazz, some of the earliest prog-rock and streamlined folk (do you like Love?). you don't need a history lesson. listen to the thing, put it away for two days and listen to it again. Explore. This is/was a loosely-put-together concept album decrying the ecological devastation that was being realized by the youngsters. if you can find tastier slide guitar licks than randy california's (he was named by jimi hendrix himself) then you're into duane allman. and try their other great discs, spirit and clear. haredoug.
