Change is now for The Byrd brothers where the artificial energy of psychedelic drugs clashes with the natural harmonies of the rootsier country-flavoured sound that The Byrds were moving towards. They may have started out as notorious, but this album is a transition into something purer and maturer. The final chapter of the psychedelic Byrds-era!

Sweetheart full-blooded conversion into country music. We had definitely seen it coming along the way, but The Byrds' original folk rock had always persisted anyway. With this album, The Byrds as we knew them were over, something to be missed, sure, but country The Byrds-style is actually highly successful and exceptionally sweet with their gorgeous harmonies still intact. Might even be their most consistent album!
