Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Really nice chart - and certainly a lot of UK albums that went under my radar that I can spend a few days between Xmas/New Year 2022 checking out. Glad to see ONE Aussie album/artist make the list. My favourite UK albums from the 90's are Richard Thompson - You Me Us; Aztec Camera - Stray; Best of The Waterboys; Placebo & The Beloved.

Excellent chart! Nevermind, Automatic for the People, Dummy, and The Bends are all fantastic albums. I also really love Slanted & Enchanted as your #1 pick, which makes me wonder how it didn't end up in my nineties chart. Seems like an obvious oversight--thanks for helping me catch it!
