You might listen to this album and think to yourself “Oh great, another indie folk band” and you know, that might be a valid complaint. Certainly ever since the explosion of popularity that Mumford & Sons got, indie folk has popped up everywhere and it seems like every day there’s another new indie folk band. Personally, I’m a fan of the movement for the most part, often times these bands don’t necessarily follow a formula (except for Mumford & Sons sometimes) and add their own identity to the genre. Yes, there’s the mediocre album here and there, but sometimes you get something really good, and that’s what we’ve got from Run River North. Run River North is a band of Korean-Americans playing folk music, which isn’t necessarily something you see everyday, but they execute it incredibly well. Lyrically, the album is solid, and musically, it’s a fun album to listen to, not something you’ll get bored listening to. It’s a really nice album and hopefully a sign of good things to come from these guys.

Highlights include: “Monsters Calling Home”, “Growing Up” and “In The Water”. [First added to this chart: 03/05/2014]

Genuinely pleased to see After the Disco getting some love on your chart, as I thought it was the best album of 2014. I've really come to appreciate what a great producer Danger Mouse is, as he's able to adapt his approach in a chameleon-like way to draw out the talents of the artists he works with. Overall a really enjoyable chart to puruse and sample from!

And I thought that except for the War on Drugs 2014 was a mediocre year. When I read your comments it wants me to check at least some of the albums you're very positieve of.
