A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

all the usual suspects here...but iron maiden is a refreshing twist. also the first time ive seen daniel lanois on here. the tea party does a fantastic cover of his song "the messenger."

Great chart, if my list was 100 I would have a further 20 of your selections.
How though can anyone have Red hot chilli peppers in a greatest list? Ugh.
With great anticpation i look forward to Lanois and Young colaboration, My all time favorite artist and alltime fav producer. Saw his solo tour in buffulo and it sounded great.
