Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

45 albums in common...Nice!
Great chart, really nice balance between the accepted classics of the 60's, 70's and 80's and the best of the last 20+ years. Even though it includes 2 albums that I can't get my head round ( In the Aeroplane and Merriweather) I like this chart a lot.
Kinda similar to mine!

Nice chart - lots in agreement and some interesting things I've not heard of before... Pop Winds, hmmmmm....
I loved the top 10, but from there on, the list kinda repeated itself, and I am not the biggest Chili Peppers fan either.
Not a bad chart, though missing a couple of essenitial albums imo.
