"It's as good as anything" - Win Butler (Arcade Fire frontman)

I'd like to have an original number one, but I can't lie and pretend this is not a truly special album to me.

Best tracks: The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One; In the Aeroplane Over the Sea; Two-Headed Boy; Holland,1945.

This is probably the album I liked the most at first listen. Every track is beautiful (it's a shame that Time of the Season is the only one quite popular).

"Not since 1967, with the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, had so many major critics agreed immediately, not only on an album's merits, but on its long-term significance, and its ability to encapsulate a particular point in history." - Tim Footman (british journalist and editor)

This is simply my favourite album by my favourite band.

An extraordinary record from every point of view, certainly one of the best of the century and one of the finest debut albums ever.

Led Zeppelin at their best. Everyone talks about Stairway to Heaven (that is of course the best song on the album), but When the Levee Breaks is terrific as well.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 92.6/100, a mean average of 92.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.6.

Not a huge fan of your #1 pick but I know that it is highly regarded. The rest of the chart is right up my street. Great chart

Interesting list, don't like Radiohead and Arcade Fire but otherwise excellent. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea at number 1 is controversial but it is a great record. Rock on man

You say The Bends isn't quite as good as Kid A and then rank it higher than Kid A...
