I mean, what else can I say about this piece of art that hasn't already been preached before? Probably not much but I'll toss in my two cents considering where I'm at right now. Well, for starters it quite literally changed the musical landscape overnight. Spawned entire genres into existence in some songs and perfected established genres while somehow still maintaining their overall musical feel. The sounds they produced were absolutely alien for the time and still continue to baffle most upon hearing it fifty years later. The harmonies are second only to Pet Sounds and some of the most progressive lyricism ever recorded. [First added to this chart: 01/28/2017]

I'm lazy, I know, but a fair amount of what I said referring to Revolver can be applied to The Bends as well. Just absolutely ground-breaking, they really set the bar high for everything else that followed. To be honest, I feel these 2 albums are the ultimate growers. Granted, they punch you right in the mouth upon first listen but then they slowly absorb you into their world and, without realizing it, simply become a part of life itself for the individual. This album is pure beauty manifested into sound. The soundtrack to nostalgia and the bitterness a society driven by greed and alienation can bring. It also contains themes of the group lashing out against a music industry they despise with lines like "by the way, which one's pink?". Overall, a masterwork of epic proportions and my personal favorite album. Revolver and The Bends may have songs I like much more than what is featured on Wish You Were Here but nothing and I mean nothing can match what and how I feel from the moment I hear that synth passage fade-in to the moment that synth fades out. Forty-four minutes and twenty-eight seconds of pure, unbridled nirvana [First added to this chart: 01/28/2017]

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 9% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.1/100, a mean average of 88.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.6.

17 albums in common, nice! Oh and nice addition of Death the punk band, although I do like the metal band as well haha.

I feel like this chart is a little too generic in terms of this site. I feel like you should take some more risks, I think that everything up here is critically acclaimed already. You don't have any albums that are special to you that aren't loved everywhere else? Maybe this is an odd criticism, I don't know haha.

Pink Floyd has 4 of the top 10 spots with a heavy dose of Metallica mixed in throughout. Though I may not agree with The Wall, anyone who has Animals in their top ten is all right by me. I'd love to see your thoughts on the albums and a complete list. You've got some solid selections.
