Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

It takes balls to put RAM at no.1... lots of shit was said about the album, but I think that people will learn to appreciate it and see what a great album it is.

I like the way you aren't afraid to repeat some of the same artists, a lot of people here try to avoid that but I don't see anything wrong with it. Beatles, Who, Floyd, Daft Punk, Kraftwerk: all pretty cool. I also like the way you feature a lot of 70s and 00s albums like myself. Really good chart!

I didn't mention it in my previous comment, but you also have a great top 50 songs. I love the inclusion of Mozart in there too. Symphony no.25 was the perfect intro to Amadeus. (And all the non-classical songs there are awesome too).

Great chart overall. Not sure how I feel about RAM at #1, but judging by all of the Kraftwerk and Daft Punk, you're no fly by night fan.
