The album that changed music for me. Up until the release, I was a rock elitist with little dabbles into hip hop. I scourged the charts for the latest hits. That's not a bad thing at all, let people enjoy music how they want to. But TPAB showed me what the album experience is at its best: thought provoking, honest, entertaining and boundary-pushing narratives and music. I haven't heard an album hat touches this grand opus.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.9/100, a mean average of 84.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 17.6.

Too much American music. It's true that the USA has produced more great music than any other country. But 81% (!) of your Top 100? Whenever I see a chart with more than 60% from the USA, it tells me that person hasn't yet explored the amazing diversity of great music from the non-English speaking world. Brazil, France, Mali, Senegal, Pakistan, India, Japan, Nigeria, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Italy, etc. All have produced Top100-worthy masterpieces (or close to it). Check out BEA's top rated albums from some of those countries and expand your musical horizons.

Great stuff, love the amount of excellent (recent) hip hop. As a Billy Woods fanatic myself, I can only recommend Brass, a collab with the equally incredible Moor Mother and perhaps my personal pick for his best album. Apart from hip hop, it's always cools seeing people appreciate non-Dummy Portishead work.

Good list. I strongly dislike some of the poppy choices but your great choices make up for it.

Great seeing Portishead Third rated so high on here. I agree that it's criminally underrated. Moves up on my list every time I listen to it. Surprising seeing a bunch of 2019 albums on here since it's so recent but that's cool. I should check out JPEG and the others I haven't heard yet.

Nice to see so many recent albums on here. A lot of people like to argue that today's popular music isn't good but honestly that's just stupid. Just look at TPAB! You have it as your #1 album and honestly I have a hard time disagreeing with that placement (even if I personally like GKMC slightly better). There's so much great music from this decade and I'm happy you recognize that. Great list!!

Such a cool chart! Perfect mix of everything, popular albums, deep cuts, oddball choices, it's great, keep it up and LONG LIVE WEEZER
