Top 100 Greatest Music Albums
by lancashirearab

I have decided to only include one album from each artist in this chart because I am having to leave out some great bands from my chart. I have included some notes about each album to try to explain why they are so special to me. Just remember they are all my babies and I love them all equally even though some are definately cuter than others and some of them look nothing like me!

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.8/100, a mean average of 89.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.9.

One of the best charts I've seen. Gotta listen to some albums I don't know, but just the hard work and the appreciation of music make this one of my favs.

Totally disagree with your no 1 and yet your chart was interesting enough to keep my looking through all 10 pages. That's the greatest compliment I can give you, I think.

Love it. I agree with so much of this chart, and charts like this one that are so brilliantly personal make the experience of going through them so engaging
