Top 100 Music Albums of the 1960s
by lancashirearab

If an album is in my Top 100 Greatest Music Albums of all time, it will not re-appear in this one. The sixties produced so much great music. Unfortunately my parent's taste in music from the sixties was appalling. Apart from the occasional nod towards the Beatles, I was left to discover the music from this decade on my own. Thank goodness for the music papers.

This is probably the most important album ever. Without it so much would not have happened. Where would post-punk be without this album. My record collection would be so different. [First added to this chart: 04/08/2012]

I love this album. The musicianship is scary. The songs just sound right. I really wasn't expecting this after hearing one of my mates introduce me to his music with A Sense of Wonder. [First added to this chart: 04/09/2012]

This was the Velvet's album I hoped my son would love the most. It is so challenging. Sister Ray gets a lot of deserved praise, but I love I Heard Her Call My Name especially when Cale knocks over the pile of chairs in the studio. [First added to this chart: 04/08/2012]

I have seen Simeon reproduce a lot of this album live. He had a hand-built pile of electronics. It wasn't the original Simeon machine. He tweaked oscillators to make an amzing sound. It was a great night that gave me a clearer insight into how he made this album. [First added to this chart: 04/09/2012]

The following tone is a reference tone recorded at our operating level. I love this album. His voice is just so powerful. I believe it that he could break microphones. [First added to this chart: 04/08/2012]

I never wanted to be Jim Morrison, but so many of my mates did. Some even bought leather breeks just to be a bit more like him! This is such a great album that I was tempted, but with such short legs, I couldn't get any to fit, thankfully. [First added to this chart: 04/08/2012]

How can a song be so good that it gets a committed atheist to sing "Jesus, help me find my proper place" out loud in the streets of Arbroath? Fantastic album. [First added to this chart: 04/08/2012]

I recently saw Toots playing the same old songs at a FREE concert in Blackburn. Rain had washed off the free festival in the park, so Toots was moved to the small stage at King George's Hall. What a great night. He played a number of tracks from this, including the title track. [First added to this chart: 04/09/2012]
