A warning... I have all of 12 5-star albums for the decade of the '90s, and it goes down from there. I'm a Gen-X curmudgeon. I found the early '90s depressing, and then music got worse. The best thing, by light-years, in the '90s was shoegaze, and then the music press killed it. Many thanks to Gen Y and millennials for bringing it back later.

The weakest of the four albums on the shoegaze Mt. Rushmore, still a masterpiece. Of course the US version with the Fall EP bonus tracks. The last 5-star album on this list.

I really like this band; they hold a special place in my heart and seem to have been largely forgotten. A warning to folks if they even come back again - Harriet isn't going to look or sound like she did back then. Don't be misogynistic and be glad they're making music again - if it ever happens.

Like many of the shoegaze bands, their prior EPs are essential listening. They never topped this material.

This is not "my" Cocteau Twins - they were better in the '80s, and no, this wasn't their crowning achievement - but this is still a great album.

The only Fugazi album I really got into, largely because it's their most tuneful and musical by far. Yes, I prefer this to the prior EP collection.

Wherein a fine indie band comes to its premature conclusion. It's horse pucky that they still haven't done a reunion. Dean, resentment is like taking poison and waiting for someone else to die.
