I wouldnt call this chart "best ever albums" as the site suggests, but this is quite simply my favourite albums. My chart has been put together based purely on what I enjoy listening to, no points for influence on other artists or importance at its time of release. It may be heavy with certain artists and genres, but they happen to be my favourite ones, I don't go for the one album per artist thing as I don't believe that gives an accurate account of your genuine favourites. The only rule I had was no greatest hits/best of, b-side collections or compilation albums.
I've put my favourite 3 tracks off each album on so if anyone hasn't heard anything on this chart they can listen to a taster of the album on youtube.
In the process of listening to all these again so positions will change.

R.E.Ms last truly great album in my opinion and with hindsight, other that seeing them live on the Monster tour, I don't think I'd be too bothered if they called it a day after this. Everything since I feel has just tarnished their reputation, (saying that, New Adventures in hi-fi has grown on me recently). Favourite tracks, Find the River, Drive, Man on the Moon.

If ever an album cover matched the music perfectly, this is it. Would you ever believe that this was the same band that recorded shiny happy people! Favourite tracks, Talk About The Passion, Radio Free Europe, Perfect Circle.

The first album I bought that kicked off my music obsession. Sat in a friends living room aged 13 and Losing my Religion came on the Radio and it just grabbed my by the balls! Really let down by Shiny Happy People and Radio song but some of the album tracks on this are amazing. They did an unplugged shortly after this came out and I remember getting my mum and dad to put MTV on while I sat and watched and they became my favourite band at that time. Contains one of my favourite songs of all time in Country Feedback. Favourite Tracks, Country Feedback, Half A World Away, Near Wild Heaven.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I really love this chart and the comments even if I don't agee with all the albums on it: maybe a bit too biased on britpop: but anyhow I am tempted to check out a lot of your favorites especially the Rory gallagher ones; l checked out the Irish Tour album and I really lovend it as well. Apart from the shredding guitar plating I think it is the Ray Manzanerek like organisatie that delivers the icing on the already fantastisch cake.
I also especially liked your funny comments on Metallica and am glad you appreciate them
