"Greg Dulli's last album with the Whigs before disbanding them to form The Twilight Singers. This sounds better with each listen, maybe could be ranked better with more listens. "Somethin' Hot' and "Uptown Again" are my favorites on this right now."  Reply

"Too Far to Care combines alt-country and surf rock in a way that feels loose and spontaneous, with Rhett Miller's lyrics sounding plausibly like they could have been written on the back of a cocktail napkin. But this album is far from sloppy or unfocused. The band, pushed along by Ken Bethea’s go..."  [+]  Reply

"I really like the first 4 albums by OLP, and this one isn't an exception. It might be my least favorite of the 4, but it is still a very good record. "Naveed" is an awesome album and "Clumsy" is a good follow-up, but it might be a little bit too similar to its predecessor to really stand out. But..."  [+]  Reply

"Funnily enough, "Timeless" does feel like it's going on forever, but it is a remarkable record that still feels fresh and smooth. Must be some sort of magnum opus in the D&B genre."  Reply

"If I had to state any positives I have with this album, "Brian Wilson" is very close to being a pretty good song. It starts off decently with just some acoustic guitar and it's pleasant and surprising that it's not immediately terrible. Then they had to ruin it by having like 10 instruments blare..."  [+]  Reply

"I feel that some of these tracks reek early 90's as well as having a song like Shake, which was easily the worst song on the album. However songs like Set Adrift on Memory Bliss, Paper Doll, Reality Used to Be a Friend of Mine,A Watchers Point of View, Even After I Die and On A Clear Day were som..."  [+]  Reply

"A good attempt at something more. Not as poignant as their first and a bit of a deception in comparison. A worthy listen nonetheless. It's unfortunate they couldn't expand on that since the lead singer took his own life, samurai style. The tone of this album does suggest that Dédé (the lead singe..."  [+]  Reply

Sci-Fi Lullabies
Compilation
"Very few bands, if any, have B-sides as strong as early suede. The first disk of Sci-Fi is as good, if not better, as suede and dog man star. I think if disk one had been released as a 3rd anderson/butler's suede album it would rank alot higher on the site. Disk two is pretty forgetable however"  Reply

"One of Cornershops strongest, if not the strongest, album. My gripe with it is I do not understand the inclusion of tracks 7,8 and 9 - they seem to be fillers in an album that has 15 tracks - just get rid of those three and you'd have a more consistent album and I'd probably rate it higher than I..."  [+]  Reply

"Layered, intelligent, moving, and textured, this album is not just one of the better albums of the 90's, but of all time. Every track on this gem is solid and wonderful, but if you're short on time, give "Afternoon With the Axolotls" a listen. You won't be sorry."  Reply
