So worth the wait. While part of me misses the raw eccentricities of Me--which has gradually become one of my favorite pop records of the decade--the writing on Us is catchy, the production is punchy, and there's not a weak track to be had. Not to mention Lorely Rodriguez's lyricism remains as sharp and honest as ever. Few, if any pop artists are this vivid and frank in their musings of romance. The excitement, the boredom, the major and minor concessions, the reluctance, the intimacy, and the grandiosity of love is all on display, in its ungainly beauty and ugliness.
