What is surprising about Take Good Care is how big of a shake-up it is from The Revivalists in terms of sound. This isn't an album filled with raspy vocals and heavy guitars, but rather something closer to polished pop-rock in the style of Moon Taxi or Neon trees. The band has never been more alternative and indie than on this record.
While elements from the band's original sound still creep through on tracks like All My Friends and Got Love, the albums mostly sound like nothing the band has released before. The first few tracks utilize this new sound well, with Otherside of Paradise standing out pretty well, but on most later tracks the band doesn't seem to know what to do with their new sound. Next To You is one of the better songs the band has released, though, both in terms of sound and lyrics.
With strong choruses and hooky melodies, The Revivalists seek to broaden their audience and in doing so, remove much of what made their songwriting unique in the first place. Additionally, many songs ion this album sound similar to each other, so more variation would have been welcome. That being said, this album is more coherent compared to the earlier ones, with great songs in the latter half of the album (Future) as well as on the first half (Next To You).

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
