Realmente me fascina la música de Cat Stevens (alguna más que otra), pero lo que si está claro es que Teaser & The Firecat y Tea For The Tillerman son verdaderas obras maestras que todo mundo debería escuchar en su vida.

Sou do Brasil, meu inglês é ruim, então vou comentar em português mesmo. Cat Stevens foi marcou minha juventude e influenciou minha vida de forma definitiva. Só hoje consigo aquilatar devidamente a influência que ele teve em minha adolescência, revisitando suas músicas percebi que ela falam sobre as ansiedades e dilemas típicos da adolescência, por isso me tocavam tanto. Ao longo do tempo Cat Stevens, Yusuf, manteve essa sensibilidade única de falar sobre as emoções do período de vida que está vivendo refletindo com profunda sensibilidade o que todos sentem nesses períodos, um exemplo disso é a música "Grandsons" em que fala sobre a experiência de seravô. Para mim é um dos maiores músicos de todos os tempos.

There's something about his voice and melodies that really speaks to me. Looking forward to check out some of the less acclaimed albums, since his best two are truly remarkable.

When ranking albums of an artist feels like ranking your children, it's a sign of a good artist. Cat's albums Teaser and the Firecat and Tea For The Tillerman are both so brilliant it's hard to place one above the other, and Mona Bone Jakon isn't far behind.
Cat's brilliance lies in the way his style of songwriting matches perfectly with his voice. His often mysterious lyrics create magical imagery, and often kindle feelings of assurance and sentimentality that we haven't felt since we were children. Pair that with his campfire-storyteller voice that carries a wisdom and timbre beyond his years, and the result is music that conjures up emotions we cannot otherwise articulate, and which few others artists can express in the same way. When his music is happy, it comforts you, and when his music is melancholy, it still comforts you.
His albums Buddha & The Chocolate Box, Foreigner, Roadsinger and Catch Bull At Four seem to be extremely underrated on this site at least, although are better recognised elsewhere.
