Yo La Tengo is one of the most enduring and influential bands in the American indie rock scene. Formed in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1984, the band's core consists of the husband-and-wife duo Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley, who were later joined by bassist James McNew in the early 1990s.
Their musical style is famously eclectic, ranging from soft folk ballads and melodic pop to noisy, feedback-driven rock. They are frequently compared to the Velvet Underground for their ability to blend sweet melodies with experimental drone.
Great long running band with songs that last a lifetime. Many albums you can connect to and never fading from their roots. A+ Band

Yo La Tengo is the best band on the planet. Many other great bands have come and gone in the years, and many have even reached greater highs and released stronger standout records, BUT, no other act has come close to matching Yo La Tengo's quality consistency throughout the years. YLT has been quietly releasing one stellar album after another, changing the game with every new release and every new song, and showing no signs of letting up even after 30 years. It's nearly impossible to jump right into a catalogue as diverse and interesting as YLT's and understand the breadth of their stylings, but I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One is probably the best bet for first-time listeners.
