One of the bands that were majorly effected by the emergence of MTV, much to the detriment of their music. Still their early work puts ZZ Top amongst my favorites.

The epitome of Texas blues rock boogie delivered with a very solid attitude... then degenerated into MTV schlock.
A great band who didn't stick to their original sound and got away with it.

I like the bar-boogie ZZ Top over the MTV superstars.
Got to agreed (mostly) with the previous comments. The early albums are far superior to the later ones but check out Rythmeen which is a return to the early stuff.

Stick with the early, more blues-influenced albums.
Their early albums are tremendous work indeed. It is too bad the later albums don't stack up with their better work.
