This band will forever fall into two camps: those that love the early albums with Eno and those that love "Avalon"
I am definitely with the latter...

Musically diverse and highly influential. Brian Eno was in the band for the first two albums which added an art rock influence. After he left they continued to put out great stuff. They had an impressive run from 1972-1982.

They started as avantgarde rock band, but that was watered down from album to album. Still high quality stuff though.

Dream away in the definition of the 80s: Roxy Music
Best album: Avalon
Their first three albums are pure genius.
I particularly like the latter period culminating in Avalon
