Top 100 Music Albums of the 1960s by ThePoodleBites Unknown

The nineteen-sixties ... a comparatively strange era of freedom, love, peace, and music. The idealistic 'hippie' scene gave forth to new opinions, ideas, and musical creations/experimentalism that could be expressed for the first time. Censorship often lowered to a minimum. This chart, considering historical impactful as well as the well-conceptualized listening material, is rated upon the albums which I most enjoy listening to as well as appreciate the cultural impact of from one of the greatest musical generations.

While Hendrix's first two albums contain music way beyond that of his era, Electric Ladyland is where the guitarist, composer, musician really made his grandest artistic statement. While it contains the hits "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" and "All Along The Watchtower," the tracks "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)" and "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp" host some of the most beautiful lyrics Hendrix ever wrote. From beginning to end, the Experience truly made a wonderful album to experience. [First added to this chart: 04/20/2013]

While "just" a pop-rock album from the late-60s psychedelic era, the Small Faces' final album, on the pink Immediate label, somehow finds its way onto my playlist more often than not. The first side is an incredible mish-mash of psychedelic classics, each song as good as the last. The second side tells a fascinating (and slightly hilarious) story about a boy in search of the moon. Definitely worth a listen or two (... hundred)! [First added to this chart: 01/03/2014]

Yet another masterwork from a mastermind, Zappa/The Mothers made an album of pure cultural dissent with their third LP: frustration with political movements, annoyance with the "fakeness" of hippie culture, and general dissatisfaction with the general public's approach to modern societal problems. Unambiguously framed as an insult to the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper, "Money" quintessentially insults the framework and household of American culture and brings into perspective the essentials of familial and social formalities. I honestly cannot understand why this album does not receive more recognition than it does; even among fans of the Fudge, this album is often at the bottom of their list of favorites (what the heck are they even hearing?). One of the first concept albums I ever heard, 'The Beat Goes On' is a sound collage, political statement, history lesson, and an important musical evolution. The Fudge's prediction itself was an evolution of the future it foresaw and the past it could not forget. I often find covers of songs to be insufficient and disrespectful, but often times the Fudge preform the tracks more effectively than the original artists, or at least twist them into an unrecognizable form within the bizarre plot the album represents. 'The Beat Goes On' should be remembered as a record of respect and psychedelic progression. [First added to this chart: 04/20/2013]

Good Chart - but no 60`s Chart!
It´s basically a Chart of 70`s artists who started their career in the late 60`s.
Anyway, I was not part of the 60`s.
And finally now that I did a 60`s Chart myself....
It looks pretty much like yours with a focus on the years 1967 - 1969...
So I feel I should improve my rating to 90.

Great chart. I thought I was the only person who loved An Evening With Wilde Man Fischer. I bought it on Vinyl about 20 years ago and it's one of my prized possessions. In a similar vein, I also recommend the work of David Peel, the Godz and the Fugs.
