She was into S&M and bible studies
Not everyone’s cup of tea she would admit to me

Monday morning wake up knowing that you've got to go to school
Tell your mum what to expect, she says it's right out of the blue

Behind the hatred there lies
A murderous desire for love

I decree today that life
Is simply taking and not giving
England is mine - it owes me a living

To dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea, Circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow

Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles

Your prettiness is seeping through
Out from the dress I took from you

Soft silly music is meaningful magical
The movements were beautiful all in your ovaries
All of them milking with green fleshy flowers
While powerful pistons were sugary sweet machines

I don’t believe in an interventionist God
but I know darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask him
not to intervene when it came to you

Your face has fallen sad now
For you know the time is nigh
When I must remove your wings
And you, you must try to fly

Van Morrison

If I ventured in the slipstream
Between the viaducts of your dream
Where immobile steel rims crack and the ditch in the back roads stop
Could you find me?
Would you kiss-a my eyes?
To lay me down in silence easy
To be born again

We were born before the wind Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

Great chart idea, singingpeasant! I've been meaning to check out Felt for a long time, so think I might have to do that now. Getting more into B & S too these days.

Some of my favourite lyrics are probably on 'La De Da' by Joel Plaskett. Check out Ian Whitty and the Exchange as well, especially the song called 'Houndstooth Shirt' (I think there's a bit of a Belle and Sebastian influence in their songs too, actually).

It's great that you enjoyed Sinsister! Thanks for your rec. Does Townes Van Zandt play in any band or do solo? I haven't heard him before. I'll check him soon.

I like. I wanna make a chart like this. perhaps i will. It's pretty excellent Listen to Townes Van Zandt. The Song "Rake" is a great intro. if you haven't already. Also his song "Highway Kind" changes my life. The final verse really hit me. Still does.

Ill be checking into some of these more. I just listened to If You're Feeling Sinister today. So great.
