Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

Lots of Seventies, I know. I cannot help it. Homer Simpson Syndrome ("Rock attained perfection in 1974"). I was only 20 when the Eighties began, but for me Music basically died then. It is pathetic. I tried to keep an open mind, though. Honest.

This is the one album that will always cheer me up. I am a city dweller, but boy, do I wish to be a country boy, whenever I hear this. Early to bed, early to rise. Fiddle when I can work when I should. - In addition to the music I love the way Denver talks. I can listen to his introducing the band/orchestra endlessly. [First added to this chart: 07/16/2014]

I saw him live once or twice. And he was excellent. But not as good as on this one. A lot depends on the audience of course, with a live record. The way they start singing when the band had left the stage sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to it. [First added to this chart: 08/12/2014]

Jackson Browne was one of the artists I thought I had to despise. But when I heard a couple of tracks of this on the radio I found the strength in me to forget my silly prejudice. [First added to this chart: 07/29/2014]

When I was little some DJ on the Radio (I think Winfried Trenkler) once said one had to hitch-hike to the other end of Europe just to see this band. So when I had the chance I went to see them. And they were quite good. [First added to this chart: 07/29/2014]

Why isn’t this more popular? Have even the mighty Fall done anything better than Rowche Rumble or Cary Grant’s Wedding? I must say though, that one reason I love this is that I always thought they were singing about Batman here and not That man. [First added to this chart: 07/30/2014]

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.3/100, a mean average of 89.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.2.

Love the uniqueness of this chart! Artists and works that aren't the usual go to. Like you I'm a lover of all things 70s. Even though I didn't live in that decade!

Perhaps the most honest chart I've come across on this site ~ no peer pressure here! Although not in my top 100, I really love seeing Karla Bonoff & (Australia's own) Gary Shearston in this chart.

Gute Top 100 mit richtig guten Alben ein paar sind mir unbekannt. Aber du hast auch Klassiker hier drin. Darum gibt es 85 Punkte. Und gut ist dass du auch Tame Impala hier hast.

I totally agree with you that music went downhill rapidly after the 70's, but my taste is completely different to yours. 60's & 70's are by far the best decades for music.

Such a great chart! Siouxsie And The Banshees, Nico and Sparks in top 10 are my favourite picks here. Also Comes a Time as favourite Neil Young record? That's pretty cool

Not really my thing and like you say I think there’s a tad too much focus on the 70s, but really like your notes and eclecticism!!
