I've loved this album since fifth grade. I'd fall asleep to it every night. Then I began listening to the lyrics, and they're heartbreaking. An interracial couple in New York forced to leave home with a baby boy. 'Three Days', a ripping song about an LA orgy with a girl who died soon after, includes my all-time favorite guitar solo. 'Then She Did...' chronicles the lead singer's mother's suicide. The album's an underrated letter to the ills of the inner-city. And so many styles, Viking-like (Obvious), Middle Eastern strings (Of Course), a softer ballad (Classic Girl), the first half is mostly eclectic alternative metal and it's weird and shreds my face off. Still.

Portishead Third, Kid A, Ritual and Another Green World in the top ten, yes! Love it. Great taste and twelve albums in common! Television Marquee Moon should be on everyone's list. Saucerful of Secrets is so underrated, good choice!

The guitar solo on “Three Days” is from another world. Didn’t know what the song was about until now, heavy stuff. Thought it was just about an orgy.
