As far as qualifying characteristics of these albums, this is probably my least "well-defined" chart. Basically if my dad would ask: "did you really pay money for this?" I know I am on the right track. This is the best of that loud, atonal, minimal, ambient, post-jazz, drone, pretentious, and just plain difficult stuff we all hated, then pretend to like, then couldn't get enough of.
And what would an Avante-Garde list be without the albums being in a completely random order?
